The published results of a study done by Ampers and Travel in 2019 states how a total of 3,40,000 destination weddings take place every year, which constitutes 25 percent of all the marriages happening in that year. An inquisitive mind would rightly question soon after viewing and analyzing this data, “what makes destination wedding so much trendy?”

The answer to this question lies in the domain of “exploring.” Destination wedding gives a chance for both the family trees and their relatives and friends to explore a new place. To know new people! And hence to connect with a distinct culture. When a completely new local trend is blended with an old global trend, a fusion is created which gives you a sense of beauty to admire for your lifetime. Sort of a “wedding to remember throughout your life!”

Whether you choose: Kerela, Havelock Island, Goa, Khajuraho, Jodhpur or Agra for your destination wedding, or you choose Pushkar, Neemrana, Mussorrie, Auli, Orchha or Jim Corbett. Until and unless you do not make the local trend over there a part of your wedding, you wouldn’t be able to see the beauty of tying knots over there.

  • So say you choose Kerela as your wedding destination. You can include the local wedding trend over there i.e. Sadhya: a typical wedding meal consisting of 25 dishes served on a banana leaf in your wedding.

  • In case you have opted for Havelock island, don’t forget to check out the trend of exchanging vows underwater.
  • Goa has a wonderful history of local pre-wedding trends like Utor i.e. a promise meant to be taken before getting engaged in which a bride’s ring is taken in a special box having an infant Jesus statuette. There is also Chuddo ceremony wherein a bangle seller fits the bangles on the bride’s hands, a day before wedding. Thereafter, in the Roas ceremony the couple is made to bathe in the coconut water.
  • Jodhpur is a place with very many local royal trends as it was once a city in which many kings resided. The destination is known all over the world for its shahi Jodhpuri turban with Jodhpuri pants and bandhgala or sherwani.

And the list goes on for each and every Indian destination mentioned above. Obviously, such local trends continue to add beauty to your weddings even if you choose a foreign destination. By reflecting a local trend in your wedding, you do not only enlighten your guest but also allow yourself to be a part of

the place where you are exchanging vows with your life partner.
